So i've noticed this since I had my BB curve for the first time.. i really dont know what it means, or what it does? can anyone explain it to me?

It's a feature from RIM that allows your blackberry to send and recieve data through your network provider as well as your wifi connection seemlessly. It basically cuts down on your phone not having signal converage.

UMA stands for Unlicensed Mobile Access technology. It works with GSM phones with a supportive carrier. Calls made over UMA (similar to VOIP), including international calls, aren't charged against your cellular minutes. T-Mobile's HotSpot works with UMA.
